The world is not as it should be.
Avalanchia has been destroyed, whatever remained after the Singularity now ravaged by an apocalyptic storm. Somehow, beyond fathom you have survived, and find yourself here. A land of madmen, of monsters, populated both by Avalanchian citizens and fantastical creatures. This Kingdom is something out of a dream.
And you can see that it is all wrong. The people, many of them your former subjects, are afraid; their streets policed, their news stations quieted, their hope held back by the blaze of the bansticks. They been rendered docile by the four oppressors who step down upon their subjects, speaking words of a new age... those who call themselves rising angels. The words of the Coalition are those of liars. You follow the rightful king, of the rightful nation.
A nation that is now dead.
But even now, its people remain. And here, in this strange land, they have failed to reestablish order; their voices slowly silenced, crushed beneath the weight of the oppressors.
This cannot be. The world cannot remain in such a state. You, together, form the mafians this game, ready to fight to retake the throne that is rightfully yours.
However, even as you fight to reclaim the land by force, another battle will be waged, one of a separate design: A war for the hearts of the people. The vast majority of players this game currently support the Coalition. This is a condition outside of their alignment (so, a Coalition-supporting townie is still a townie, and a Coalition-supporting third party is still a third party, etc). Your King may attempt to change this. If enough players are persuaded to support Avalanchia over the Coalition, you will be able to seize control, becoming Masons, leaders of the town. The Coalition will become the mafia in your place, and they will be hunted. They may attempt to win the land back from you, but it will become more difficult once you've already seized control.
It is your noble Forsaken King, Roy Avalanche I (played by SurgePox), who is critical to this effort. Every phase, King Surge can give me the name of one player, even if he makes your nightkill. That player will be swayed into supporting Avalanchia! In addition, Surge is your Godfather: Immune to nightkills, and scanning as a regular townie. If he is the sole surviving Avalanchian, he can opt on a given nightphase to use a desparation attack; killing two targets in one night, in exchange for giving up the next night's kill.
Bear in mind that the Coalition will not let the world slip away so callously: Their Preacher will constantly be speaking her golden words, attempting to win the people back over.
Help, however, is here, and King Surge is not alone in his valiant struggle:
Viero, Minister of Green and local demolitions expert (played by JohnnyFarrar), has emerged from the depths of the Kingdom to assist the King. His story is a tragic one, filled with regret and redemption: In a bid to assassinate the Preacher of the Coalition, Viero, working for the Mafia of Mewtwo, set off explosives on a rooftop in the central city, destroying it utterly, and catching his comrade, Kirby, in the blast. Viero, however, survived, and has spent the past six months recovering. He now sees the errors of his ways, sees how his foray with the mafia has allowed the Coalition to seize control. Thus, repentant, upon seeing Avalanche's flag held aloft two nights after the Tempest died down, Viero made his way here, to King Surge's makeshift stronghold.
JohnnyFarrar's ability is a unique one: Any kill made by Johnny will simply prime a target for detonation. That target can then be made to explode at literally any time. If you explode someone during the day, it'll activate as soon as I get online, though it WILL NOT end the dayphase. At night, it'll be included in the regular nightplot summary. There's a chance, though a rather small one, that someone can be caught in the crossfire, granting you extra casualties. A protecting role, however, will defuse any explosives placed on a target.
Next, ever vigilant, ever loyal, and ever-powerful, the local superhero, Quaetman (played by hudsonboy111) is here to help the King in his noble quest. Quaetman has the skills of the Hacker role, able to either scan the internet for clues or hack into another player's computer, role and voteblocking them for a cycle. They will be unable to access any private forums. Quaetman has a second power as well: Any night he makes the kill, he will remove his glasses, rendering the kill unblockable and irrevocable. Please note that this has a 1-night recharge, and Quaetman cannot hack while he makes a kill.
Also along to help is Avalanchia's loyal Minister of Sillywalks, now a Sillydoctor, Spontaneous Combustion (played by King Avalanche). Dr. Avalanche is a nexus, capable of deflecting 75% of all actions targeted his way onto a random player. Bear in mind, this is a dangerous ability: While it renders him quite safe, it could place the rest of you in danger... Your local Sillydoctor also has another ability: Thrice over the course of this game, Dr. Av can fuck with someone's medicine, forcing them to go spontmode for a dayphase.
Finally, along to help is a strange, black-carapaced creature calling himself Slick, Spades Slick (played by Hekatommy Riagon) His origins are unknown, but he has a particular interest in showing his stabs.
He's a roleclaim punisher: The more people claim their role in-thread, the more powerful Hekatommy's role will be. Keep in mind that massclaims are still forbidden, as is directly asking people to claim, though by all means don't be afraid to be creative about it. I'd suggest talking to me before you try anything just to be sure. Spades also has a secondary power: He is a yakuza, and can once per game choose someone to recruit into the mafia. This is a purely last-ditch effort, however, as it has a 50% chance of failing, doesn't work on all roles, and if it succeeds, will cost Hekatommy's life.
You five form the Avalanchian mafia, the ones who will topple the Coalition and form the New Kingdom through your efforts. Be it through force (as a mafia, using your nightkill and your ability to deceive to overwhelm the town and gain majority), or through words (succeeding in persuading the town to join you, holding them to you, and winning as masons), your time to rise is at hand...
Now, in the name of righteousness, go and seize the world! May it all fall before you, In nome es Rex!
